John Singleton's Strawberry Hill Stud and Up-Right® Anti-Cast Safety Strip Technology join forces

Bridie Sparkes, stud manager for John Singleton's boutique Strawberry Hill Stud at Mt. White on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, has confirmed that our Up-Right® Assistant™ Anti-Cast Safety Strip Technology is to be installed throughout the yearling barn complex at the farm immediately.

The management team at Strawberry Hill made the decision to protect their yearlings during the most critical of times, the initial boxing and the follow up preparation for sale operation.

Bridie initiated the deal after we demonstrated the technology during a visit to Strawberry Hill Stud last month.

"We are well underway and will have the installation completed by mid October, said Bridie.

The Tim Martin trained More Than Ready mare Teasing has booked herself a trip north to Grafton for a tilt at the $130,000 Listed feature on July 15.

Teasing drove between rivals in an impressive and brave last to first effort to claim the Upstream Handicap at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Saturday.

"That was a strong performance," said Martin. "I really believe she is an ideal type for a race like the Ramornie."

The Chris Jordan trained Fulmonti, the solid staying son of Montjeu(IRE), proved he is on target for this years running of the $300,000 Group 2 Brisbane Cup, 2400m, with a resounding win in the $300,000 Group 2 A.D.Hollindale Stakes, 1800m, WFA, decided at the Gold Coast Southport racecourse on Saturday, 2nd May.

Next start for Fulmonti on his way to the Cup is the $500,000 Group 1 Doomben Cup, 2020m, WFA, on the 16th May, three weeks prior to the Brisbane Cup on the 6th June, a race in which the horse ran second last year to the subsequent Melbourne Cup victor, Viewed.

Reactor to miss Miracle

The harness racing showdown of the decade is off.

Auckland Reactor, the freak New Zealand pacer unbeaten in 14 starts, will not met Australia's triple Inter Dominion winner Blacks A Fake for the first time in Friday night's $500,000 Miracle Mile at Harold Park.

Trainer-driver Mark Purdon said the decision was made because of unsatisfactory post-EI quarantine restrictions that compromised the movements of horses back to NZ after competing in Australia.

To further decimate the Miracle Mile event, two of Australia's best pacers, Smoken Up and Be Good Johnny will both be missing from the final field after suffering alarmingly similar, "mysterious" back complaints.

The connections of both horses may need not look any further than the probable discovery of newly made thrash marks on the walls of their stalls to realise their injuries were quite possibly the result of these animals becoming cast, trapped and hurt sometime recently.

The same fate forced Auckland Reactor out of racing for 4 months earlier this year and for him to regain his form after such a debilitating injury is a resounding testament to the powers of veterinary science, good management and good fortune. (See Reactor ready to blow)

Harness racing's hottest property Auckland Reactor has conquered New Zealand and Australia is next.

The most exciting pacer Australasia has seen in the modern era smashed yet another record again yesterday on his way to winning the $NZ260,000 NZ Free-For-All (2000m) at Addington.

Auckland Reactor remains unbeaten after 14 starts, many of them in unthinkably quick times.

Yesterday his 1min 54.1sec mile rate for the 2000m took 1/10th of a second off the NZ record.

His official splits were even quicker than when he broke the best last 800m ever at Addington when winning the Junior Free-For-All earlier in the week.

This time he recorded 54.4sec for the final 800m, consisting of a 26.6sec split (800m>400m) and a 27.8sec closing 400m.

There was a lot more to Auckland Reactor's win than just his times as he came around the field mid-race and sat parked outside Changeover before zooming away past him halfway down the home straight.

Auckland Reactor's next start will be in Sydney, where he will meet the best on offer from all over Australia and New Zealand in the Miracle Mile at Harold Park on November 28.

Auckland Reactor blasts back

Exciting pacer Auckland Reactor stretched his unbeaten record to 13 with an arrogant display of power pacing in the Addington Free-For-All in Christchurch yesterday.

His last 800m split of 58.6sec was the fastest ever officially clocked at NZ's leading track.

It moved trainer-driver Mark Purdon to declare him "a real champion".

"He's the best, quite clearly. There is no doubt about it."

Auckland Reactor will now clash with the best pacers in NZ on Friday in the NZ Free-For-All (2000m), before taking on the best on both sides of the Tasman in the Miracle Mile at Harold Park in Sydney on November 28.

Auckland Reactor has made a miraculous recovery from a potential career-ending injury when he became cast in his box on the eve of a big race assignment in May of this year, and yesterday's win was only his second race start since the much reported mishap. Yellowstone out of the race after day of drama

Expatriate Australian trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam last night abandoned her bid to run Yellowstone in the Melbourne Cup after a day-long battle to prove the horse's fitness.

Earlier yesterday, three Racing Victoria vets, led by Dr Paul O'Callagan, refused to give Yellowstone the all-clear, reporting the stayer was showing signs of soreness in both front legs and the right hind leg after he worked at Sandown.

Chapple-Hyam spent considerable time trying to convince Racing Victoria's chief steward, Terry Bailey, of the horse's fitness to take his place in the field for the Cup.

"We want to give her (Chapple-Hyam) every chance to get the horse to the post after coming all this way to run in the Cup," Bailey said at the time. "At the same time, it is our duty to ensure every horse in the race is fit to run because the safety of all the other horses and riders is at stake."

At 6.15 pm last evening, Racing Victoria's director of racing operations, Leigh Jordon, announced that the connections of Yellowstone had scratched the horse "at 6.10 pm on veterinary advice."

Last Tuesday, Yellowstone received a bruised hip after becoming cast in his stall at the Sandown Racecourse Quarantine Facility. (See English Raider in doubt for Melbourne Cup)

In the week following the accident, Yellowstone failed to respond sufficiently to extensive physiotherapy and ice treatment to satisfy officialdom of a complete recovery from his injuries.
